ICC award for Excellence In Management of Health, Safety and Environment

LANXESS India received the award for Excellence In Management of Health, Safety and Environment from Indian Chemical Council (ICC) as an appreciation of the company’s perseverant efforts towards meeting very high HSEQ standards at its manufacturing sites in India.

For example in Nagda, Madhya Pradesh LANXESS installed and commissioned a Waste Water Post Treatment Plant which treats the discharge from the production facilities in a manner that no liquid effluents are discharged from the site. Supported with an investment of nearly INR 35 crores, it is a significant step in the Indian chemical industry.  Another initiative towards reducing carbon footprint is the cogeneration plant fuelled by biomass which  helps save carbon footprint by 70,000 metric tons of coal per year and thus reducing about 95,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

While at the Jhagadia site, the cogeneration plant runs on eco-friendly natural gas which saves emissions of around 31,000 tons of CO2 equivalents per year. The site also has an off gas incinerator which helps minimize the VOC impact on the environment by steam generation through the heat recovered from flue gas, which is then used for production.

Dr. Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative, LANXESS India Private Limited, accepted the recognition from the esteemed industry body at the award function held in Mumbai.
