LANXESS has a growing presence in India. Operating from its registered office in Thane, the core business of LANXESS India is the development, manufacturing and sale of specialty chemicals, plastics, rubber and intermediates. LANXESS India has sales offices in Thane, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai and production sites in Jhagadia and Nagda.

LANXESS India manufacturers Advanced Industrial Intermediates at its Nagda site and Rubber Chemicals, Ion Exchange Resins, Rhein Chemie, Material Protection Products and High Performance Materials at the Jhagadia site.

LANXESS has Asia’s most state-of-the-art plant for ion exchange resins in India. The plant was constructed over a period of two years in the new chemical park in Jhagadia in the Indian state of Gujarat. It boasts an annual capacity of 35,000 metric tons. Ion Exchange Resins (ION) business unit manufactures products for industrial water treatment for the semi-conductor and pharmaceutical industries, the food sector and the power industry.

In January 2012, LANXESS India started its new production facility in Jhagadia which belongs to the business unit High Performance Materials. The plant which was announced back in June 2012 produces high-tech plastics Durethan and Pocan.

LANXESS currently employs 904 people in India. India is next to China the company’s most important market in Asia, and an integral part of its BRIC strategy. Despite the global economic crisis, India is expected to grow by six percent this year, with a rising middle-class driving demand for chemicals.
