Assistant Manager – Technical Goods

Qualification: B.E. Mechanical/Chemicals/Production/Civil with 5-10 years experience in procurement.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for Procurement of engineering and technical goods up to assigned value. This will include services required at sites as well as projects. In case of projects, procurement will include technical goods to complete the scope of service
• Specialist, responsible for cost estimation / internal costing of services, comparison and tech discussions with internal stakeholders and vendors
• Lead negotiations for services procurement. Represent GPL in critical negotiations. Steer, guide and train site TG/TS procurement team  on technical aspects, ideas/methods of internal costing, estimation enabling them to learn and assist in services procurement/delivery
• Ensure synergy between sites – Compare the prices / suppliers between sites to arrive at dependable supplier portfolio / competitive prices / in time deliveries. Create common supplier data base.
• Analyzing trends, provide Market Intelligence. Conduct research on potential suppliers and vendors, promotions and other industry trends as a source of accurate and up to date information for technical goods &  purchasing activities.
• Responsible for Annual PO’s/contracts for services. Track & Convert the repeated Purchases to Min Max./ARC concept
• Lead range of activities associated with procurement of technical goods including RFP’s , auctions, legal contracts , contract implementation and monitoring, contract management and business continuity.
• Responsible for ensuring support in production schedules, urgent purchase requisitions, urgent orders and  co-ordination/communicate with internal & external stakeholders. Strive to achieve internal customer delight
• Bring Technical know-how and experience in play for technical goods. Develop alternate vendors to enhance competition and reduce dependency / single vendor situation thereby reducing costs and minimizing risks .
• Manage expedition of various activities like:
- Sending RFP’s to approved vendor’s & follow up for offers.
- Coordinate with PRO Ops for issuing PO’s in prescribed time frame.
- Follow up with vendor to dispatch the material/mobilize teams at site/provide services.
- Trouble shooting related to urgencies and/or vendor performance e
- Coordinate with accounts for payment relating issues.
• Maintain / Track various reports like Open Orders, Open RF’s, Pending Deliveries & MIS to Head TGT/TS Procurement.
• Supervise and ensure proper filling of all documents of purchase orders/contracts viz Quotes received, Comparisons of quotes, signs offs by senior buyer thereby ensuring adherence to procurement policy and ISO quality system of company.
• Support interactions and interfaces between procurement and logistic to ensure smooth supply.
• Support TG team for MRO items as and when required.

Other requisites:

• Needs to have excellent Technical know-how skills.
• Business acumen with responsibility, independent, creativity, flexibility, good communication, fast action & team work.
• Needs to be a good communicator as role involves extensive communication with internal and external customers/vendors
• Knowledge of corporate/procurement system and processes. IT familiarity is a must ( Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office must )
