LANXESS announces to build new ion exchange facility in India in the state of Gujarat. Construction work on the EUR 30 million site at the new Jhagadia Chemical Park near Baroda is set to begin in the second quarter of 2008. Production is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2010, with 200 new employees being taken on.

LANXESS announces to relocate the rubber chemicals production from Thane to Jhagadia Production will begin in two years at the same time as the launch of the new ion exchange resin plant of the Ion Exchange Resins business unit.


January 2009
LANXESS India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Gujarat state government. The investment will create about 225 new jobs. The MOU is part of the approval process for the new site.

On the occasion of World Earth Day LANXESS announced the creation of a Green Zone at its Jhagadia site in Gujarat, India. To kick-off the initiative, a tree plantation drive was organized in cooperation with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board.

May 2009
LANXESS on track to start up new Jhagadia site in 2010. The equipment from the rubber chemicals plant, traveling 320 kilometers from Thane, has arrived at the Jhagadia site. This includes several reactors, storage tanks, and thousands of parts, such as pumps, filters and pipes.

LANXESS India participated at the IndiaChem 2009 – Gujarat in Ahmedabad. Dr. Joerg Strassburger delivered a presentation on “Global Scenario – Growth and Opportunities for Chemical Industry in India”. IndiaChem is a leading event which covers a broad range of topics which includes potential business opportunities, research and development, infrastructure and environmental concerns and many more.

March 2010
LANXESS has completed the first phase of construction of its new site and the production of the rubber chemicals plant was started up, as planned, after being relocated from Thane, Maharashtra state and the construction of ion exchange resins plant is on schedule.

LANXESS India has announced the third production facility at Jhagadia which belongs to Semi Crystalline Products Business Unit.

LANXESS opened Asia’s most state-of-the-art plant for ion exchange resins. The pant was inaugurated by the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
It boasts an annual capacity of 35,000 metric tons. Around 200 employees from the Ion Exchange Resins (ION) business unit manufacture products for industrial water treatment for the semi-conductor and pharmaceutical industries, the food sector and the power industry.

On January 12, 2011 LANXESS’ Rainier van Roessel- Board of Management, Dr. Joerg Strassburger- Country representative and Managing Director,LANXESS India and Dr. D.G. Talekar- Executive Director and Site Head - Jhagadia, LANXESS India signed a MOU with local officials for the high-tech plastics investment at ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ summit held in Gandhinagar

On January 13, 2011 LANXESS broke ground for new compounding facilities. These facilities will start producing the high-tech plastics Durethan and Pocan at the beginning of 2012. Construction of the new compounding facilities has already begun.

June 2011
On the occasion of World Environment Day, LANXESS planted 100 saplings at the Jhagadia site and donated some trees to Sewa Rural, a non-profit organization which LANXESS has been supporting.

January 2012
On 10th January 2012, LANXESS inaugurated two new production facilities at Jhagadia site. These production facilities belong to Rhein Chemie and Material Protection Products business unit which will serve different industries such as tire industry, paints and coatings industry.

LANXESS inaugurated its new Semi Crystalline Products plant at the Jhagadia site, Gujarat on January 31, 2012. The plant which was announced back in June 2010 will produce high-tech plastics Durethan and Pocan. These products cater to fields such as automotive industry, electrical/ electronics industries, construction industry as well as to medicine, sports and recreation.
