LANXESS India to be the main sponsor of India Rubber Expo 2013

Mumbai, March 29, 2012: LANXESS, the global leader in synthetic rubber announces to be the main sponsor of India Rubber Expo 2013. This is in line with the long term commitment that LANXESS has towards the Indian rubber industry. LANXESS recognizes the growth potential of the Indian rubber industry, particularly in line with automobile and export segments which have been witnessing a double digit growth y-o-y. LANXESS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India Rubber Expo (IRE) 2013, India’s largest rubber exhibition, organized by the All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA). As a part of this agreement, LANXESS shall be the main sponsor for IRE and will have a sizeable presence at the exhibition.

Along with the IRE 2013, LANXESS Rubber Day would be organized on January 21, 2013 in Mumbai, with the support of All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA). This is the second time LANXESS in India is hosting Rubber Day, a platform for exchange and discussion on vital topics around synthetic rubber and its applications in a fast growing India. Earlier held in December 2010 in Delhi, the forum gained recognition from diverse stakeholders like customers, rubber industry associations and media among others.

“We are happy that we are now hosting Rubber Day in co-operation with AIRIA, the premiere rubber industry association in India. We hope to garner greater awareness on the potential of synthetic rubber in India through this forum in 2013, alongside IRE 2013, which will be one of the largest exhibitions for the rubber industry globally”, said Dr. Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative, LANXESS India.

Mr. Ashok Mittal, Chairman for IRE 2013 being very sanguine suggested, "We are very glad to have LANXESS to be the main sponsor of the show. Their involvement and support to the show will make IRE 2013 reach new zenith only to be witnessed and acknowledged by the global rubber industry".

LANXESS is represented in India through its five business units – Performance Butadiene Rubber (PBR), Butyl Rubber (BTR), Technical Rubber Products (TRP), Rubber Chemicals (RUC) and specialized rubber chemicals, release agents and additives from LANXESS owned subsidiary Rhein Chemie (RCH). The array of products from these business units offers industry applications in sealing, damping, transportation and specifically in tires.

To mark the 100 years of synthetic rubber, LANXESS launched the “Rubber Day” series of events in 2009 with the World Rubber Day in Germany in September 2009. This was followed by Rubber Days in China, Brazil, India, South Korea and Japan. This series of events has become a firm fixture in the rubber industry’s calendar, serving as a globally recognized networking platform.
