LANXESS, a global specialty chemicals company celebrated World Environment Day at its manufacturing site in Nagda in the presence of dignitaries from the Government of Madhya Pradesh, important members from the local community, media and employees.
On the occasion, Mr. Bappa Bandyopadhyay, General Manager - Head of Manufacturing, Nagda site said, ‘As a good citizen, it is our responsibility to create and maintain a green and safe environment around us. We at LANXESS have been at the forefront in environment protection and we believe these efforts will benefit the community.’
Also on the occasion, the winners of the ‘Waste Paper Competition’ were felicitated. These employees participated in a contest wherein useful products were made out of waste paper. Green wrist bands, were distributed to all, present at the occasion, to mark the event.
All the invitees joined for a tree plantation program at the site and this year LANXESS Nagda plans to plant around 1500 saplings by the end of the monsoons.
Last year too, around 3000 saplings were planted at the site.
As a part of its drive towards sustainable development, the company also recently sponsored solar lamps for the streets of Mehetwas, the village neighbouring the LANXESS Nagda site.
‘Green Chemistry’ is a way of life at LANXESS and its commitment to contribute for the betterment of the environment would remain unstirred as the company grows its operations in India.
