LANXESS donates bus to Nagda Municipality for student’s needs

Nagda, Dec 6, 2013: LANXESS, the global specialty chemicals company having a manufacturing facility in Nagda, donated a 42 seater bus to the Municipal Corporation of Nagda at the Community Hall, near Nagar Palika. This bus will be used for transporting students to the Government college.

Present at the event were Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Executive Director, LANXESS India; Mr. S.K Jindal, General Manager - Head of Manufacturing, Nagda; Mrs. Shobha Yadav, Chairperson, Nagda Municipality and esteemed guests along with LANXESS employees.

Out of around 500 college students commuting daily to the Government College which is located at the outskirts of Nagda, almost half of them are girls. There is limited availability of transportation facilities for these students, which makes commuting to college difficult. Currently the students travel to the college by the inter-city buses, which runs after every one and half hour. The bus sponsored by LANXESS, will provide the students of the Government College with a good transport facility.

In the past, LANXESS has helped different schools in and around Nagda to strengthen their infrastructure with the objective of providing young students of Nagda a better environment and better facilities for education. LANXESS went a step further and installed solar street lamps for the people of Mehatwas village. The company also expanded its horizon with the setting up of a free-of-cost public library and a stitching center for under privileged women, giving them an opportunity for self-employment. Recently, LANXESS sponsored and installed best-in-class water coolers, to provide purified and cool drinking water in four centrally located areas in Nagda.  Identifying the needs of the people, LANXESS has always tried to provide for the necessary resources that they would benefit from.

We hope that the students will benefit from this bus and will use this facility to their advantage,” said Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Executive Director, LANXESS India.

Mr. S.K Jindal, General Manager - Head of Manufacturing, Nagda, LANXESS India, said, “We are always on the lookout to make meaningful contributions to the lives of people in Nagda and have carried out many projects in the area of education. However, looking at the shortage of transport facility for the students in Nagda, we decided to make provisions for it. Such steps, we believe, will help us make a difference to the public at large.”
