LANXESS India celebrates its first anniversary in Nagda

  • Successful integration of the Nagda site with LANXESS

On the successful completion of one year of operations after the acquisition of the chemical and wind-power businesses of a leading Indian chemicals company, LANXESS in Nagda, Madhya Pradesh, celebrated its first anniversary today. To commemorate the occasion, an event was organized at the site, where all employees were addressed by Dr. Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative of LANXESS India and Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee, Director of LANXESS India.

Strassburger also rewarded the children of LANXESS employees who wrote their secondary (class 10th) and senior secondary level (class 12th) board exams and scored above 80 percent marks in aggregate with a prize money at the event.

For LANXESS, the plant in Nagda is integral to the company’s growth strategy in India. Acquiring the businesses of a leading global producer of sulphur chlorides and benzyl products has strengthened the product offerings of the Basic Chemicals business unit of LANXESS. Additionally, the 20-hectare site has very good infrastructure and offers further room for capacity expansion in line with the growth in customer demand. The plant in Nagda is LANXESS’ first acquisition in India and underscores the company’s commitment to provide a strong product portfolio and excellent services to the Indian market.

In the past year, the plant in Nagda has earned several laurels for LANXESS. One example is the recognition by Indian Chemical Council with the Water Resource Management Award for the innovative use of biological sewage treatment and subsequent post-treatment by reverse osmosis (RO) technology to recycle domestic sewage water and harness it for industrial use.

Another feather in the cap for the plant is winning the Outstanding Achievement Trophy 2009 in the manufacturing category of the IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Awards for the implementation of excellent quality systems.

On this occasion, Strassburger said, “I congratulate the team in Nagda for having run operations successfully and seamlessly becoming a part of team LANXESS. Over this year, the team has performed extremely well and I thank each one of you for making this possible. With your co-operation, we hope to achieve many more milestones ahead.”

Banerjee added, “I am also very proud of the team and I am hopeful that, just like this year, we will together reach an even higher level of performance in the times to come.”
