LANXESS supports computer literacy in Nagda as part of new CSR initiative

Nagda, August 8, 2014: LANXESS India Private Limited, the global specialty chemicals company having a manufacturing site in Nagda, has assisted in setting up of a computer training centre for students and working professionals, including workers at plants, in Nagda. This has been done in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board, which has provided the space for the training centre in their premises in Nagda.  

LANXESS has contributed ten computers along with electrical accessories and also for the initial infrastructure necessary for setting up the centre. The infrastructure support for the centre includes painting, carpentry work, air conditioners and books that would be required for training. The computers have been installed and made functional by LANXESS which will be meant for training purpose, and will also be supported for maintenance.

This centre is the first-of-its-kind in Nagda and will help in enabling the community with primary knowledge of using computers, for example, in learning how to open, prepare, save or print a file, how to draft an email etc.  The trainer and the maintenance of the centre will be supported by the Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board. The minimum eligibility for enrollment at the training centre will be decided jointly by the Board and the trainer.

The centre was inaugurated today at a ceremony at the Labour Welfare Board premises in Nagda.  Mrs. P. Jasmine Ali Sitara, Commissioner of the Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Director, LANXESS India; Mr. Subhat Jindal, Head – Nagda site, LANXESS India along with other LANXESS employees were also part this ceremony.

At the inauguration of the centre, Banerjee said, “We are happy and proud to be part of many such new and socially beneficial ventures for the people of Nagda. This initiative only reaffirms our commitment to sustainable development at large. We are thankful to the MP Labour Welfare Board for acknowledging our initiative and supporting it fully.”

“We look forward to opportunities wherein we can support the people of Nagda especially in the area of education or skills training and are happy with the response of our other initiatives like the library and the bus for college students. We are confident that this computer centre too, will help the students and professionals of Nagda gain a competitive edge in addition to their existing skills”, added Jindal.
