LANXESS supports self-employment in Nagda

Schools provided with sewing and embroidery machines

LANXESS India Private Limited, the leading specialty chemicals company having a manufacturing site in Nagda, has announced another initiative to support the community in the neighbourhood as a part of its commitment to promote the welfare of people. In a novel effort to help women seek vocational training, sewing and embroidery machines and peripherals were provided to two schools in that region.

Four sewing machines, one embroidery machine and peripherals like ceiling fans, water purifier, etc. were provided for the girl students of the Shaskiya Prathamik Vidyalaya in Mehtwas village to be trained in tailoring alongside their academic curriculum as well as for other interested women in the area.

The Labour Welfare Board of the Government of Madhya Pradesh organizes various vocational training programmes, one of them being free training in sewing for women and girl children belonging to the families of labours/workers. Nagda is one of the locations where around 30 women are currently trained at such a sewing training center. LANXESS India has helped them with four sewing machines, two embroidery machines and peripherals like ceiling fans, water purifier, etc.

This contribution was announced at two different functions held in the Shaskiya Prathamik Vidyalaya and at the school run by the Madhya Pradesh Labour Welfare Board.

Addressing the school staff, students, media and the government officials who were present at the functions, Mr. Bappa Bandyopadhyay, General Manager, Head – Manufacturing, Nagda, LANXESS India said, “We are always happy to help people in the community in our neighbouring areas and this initiative is one such example of our efforts that helps bring about development of the region.”

LANXESS firmly believes that the secret to our future is closely linked to the future of our communities and that education and support in creation of self help groups are fundamental ways to bring about a positive change in the lives of the people.
