HUM - LANXESS National Scholarship Program for the Specially Abled children launched in the capital

LANXESS India sponsors training for students in vocal music and tabla

In line with its philosophy of sustainable development, LANXESS has always supported educational initiatives amongst other activities throughout the world. Going a step forward, in a novel initiative, LANXESS has given a scholarship to three specially abled children for training in vocal music and tabla. This has been done through a partnership with Harmony and Universality through Music (HUM), a non profit trust founded by the two times Grammy nominated tabla maestro, Sandeep Das.

The scholarship named the ‘HUM - LANXESS National Scholarship’ was presented to three visually impaired students at an event held at Civil Services Officers' Institute (CSOI), Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on April 18. The scholarship will be for a period of 5 years and will cover the tuition fees for the guru, transportation costs for attending classes, funds for buying books, instruments, study/practice material. The event was attended by corporate partners, members of the musical fraternity and other dignitaries. A short musical presentation of HUM Ensemble led by Sandeep Das, Founder and Creative Director, was made with the young musicians that HUM has worked with in the past.

In a novel beginning in the area of education, HUM, a non profit trust founded by the two times Grammy nominated tabla maestro Sandeep Das and LANXESS, a global specialty chemicals company headquartered in Germany, forged a co-operation as a part of which, a scholarship has been awarded to the specially abled children for training in vocal music and tabla.
