LANXESS is currently building a state-of-the-art production facility at Jhagadia in Gujarat, which will be the site of its factories manufacturing rubber chemicals and ion exchange resins. Once the Jhagadia rubber chemicals factory starts operating, it will focus on supplying the rapidly growing Indian tire market.

The new LANXESS plant will boast state-of-the-art green technology. For example, wastewater will be thoroughly pre-cleaned before being released into the large treatment plant at the Jhagadia Chemical Park, in which the LANXESS site is located. The pre-cleaning process will take place in a separate, ultra-modern LANXESS treatment plant and will ensure that all used water is already near drinking water quality when it leaves the company premises. It will then be treated again at the chemical park’s own treatment plant.

In addition, Jhagadia will also host LANXESS’s factory for the production of ion exchange resins. To support it, LANXESS is building its own small and highly efficient power plant on site. The power plant will run on eco-friendly natural gas and is being built as a cogeneration plant that will supply both steam and electricity.

Green Zone at Jhagadia

LANXESS has created a green zone at its Jhagadia site. On April 22, 2009 (World Earth Day), the company organized a tree plantation drive in conjunction with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board. Over time, the goal is to plant 3000 trees in the vicinity of the site.
