LANXESS India endeavours to supporting children’s welfare and education in the country. In August 2009 LANXESS has made a donation of Rs 3 lakhs to Aparajitha Foundation in support of the ‘Thalir Thiran Thittam’ (TTT) program. The sponsorship benefits three schools in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, for a period of six years and enable students to learn 120 skills each.
The vision of TTT is to inspire students toward realizing their full potential and having a holistic approach to life. The life skills program will expose them to soft skills, right attitudes and constructive thinking, which are extremely important in life, but which are not covered by the regular curriculum. It aims to make the students feel more confident and better equipped to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life, thus leading to a more ‘Confident India’.
Dr. Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative of LANXESS India, describes why it is important to LANXESS India to support the project: “To be healthy and happy, one needs to make conscious choices in life. Students need more than just information to make choices; they need to know how to make decisions. It is our wish to see that every student has the opportunity to be trained with life skills that will enable them to make informed choices for a wholesome life.”
LANXESS India’s donation also include electronic visual and audio learning kits, like TV and DVD projectors, which will facilitate the learning and teaching process.
