November 2011: Further strengthening its commitment to the cause of education, LANXESS India has renewed its commitment to Teach For India (TFI) for the third consecutive year. This contribution will help TFI to sustain their current operations in Mumbai as well as support expansion activities to encompass New Delhi and Jhagadia.
November 23, 2011: LANXESS invited twenty five bright young students along with their ‘fellows’ and two staff members from Teach For India to visit LANXESS India office at Thane. They were given a tour of the LANXESS Technical Rubber Centre.
October 2011: A week long "Book Drive" was organized at the LANXESS, Thane office. The idea was to create awareness among the employees about how unused educational articles could be a treasure for the kids and could become fun way of imparting education at school.
Contributing to the growth and development of the socio-economic ecosystem in every region of its operation is one of the core values of LANXESS. Education is an area that LANXESS believes has the maximum potential to benefit the lives of citizens of tomorrow. This would in turn foster the growth of the economy.
A project of Teach to Lead, a not-for-profit organization, TFI is recruiting and mobilizing top Indian college graduates and young professionals, namely fellows, who commit to teaching full-time for two years in underfunded schools. Post completion of the devoted two years in full time teaching, these fellows will become lifelong advocates for equity in education, working from within various sectors.
This project is modeled after Teach for America and was implemented following McKinsey & Company’s report on the project’s favorable prospects for success in India.
