LANXESS Wins PR Report Award 2010 for the “100 Years of Synthetic Rubber” campaign

LANXESS has been recognized for its global communication campaign on the 100-year anniversary of synthetic rubber: The company received the renowned PR Report Award 2010 in the “International PR" category during a gala event on April 22, 2010 in Berlin.
 
“As a leading manufacturer of synthetic rubber, we are extremely pleased to receive this award. It recognizes our efforts and encourages us to approach future communication challenges at LANXESS with creativity and professionalism,” said Christoph Sieder, Head of the Group Function Corporate Communications.
 
In the opinion of the 25-member jury, LANXESS successfully made the topic of synthetic rubber accessible to a broader audience: “375 clippings, 895 million contacts and over 30,000 clicks on the website underscore the success of the campaign. In addition, a survey shows that LANXESS is increasingly being recognized as the inventor of synthetic rubber.”
 
The chemist Fritz Hofmann invented synthetic rubber at “Elberfelder Farbfabriken” back in the year 1909. As the successor organisation, LANXESS is carrying on Hoffman’s legacy and has become today’s global market leader in this field. In 2009 the company implemented a global anniversary campaign in 23 countries, including intensive media relations, a concert in Brazil and an art exhibition in the USA. The first World Rubber Day, celebrated by LANXESS with an international scientific colloquium in Cologne on August 12, 2009 was the high point of the campaign. More than 400 guests from 18 countries came to the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne to learn more about innovation, future possibilities and the market potential of this versatile and flexible material.

The award for the German PR industry is presented annually by the “PR Report” industry magazine. A 25-member jury nominated 79 contributions from various communication management disciplines for the finals. It previously examined and evaluated 336 entries in 21 categories ranging from sales support to organisational change.
