LANXESS participates in Indo-German Urban Mela

Mumbai, April 13, 2012: As a part of the German year in India celebrations, LANXESS, the global specialty chemicals company, will be present at the Indo-German Urban Mela hosted at Cross Maidan in Mumbai from April 13 to April 22, 2012. Headquartered in Germany, LANXESS has significantly invested in India at its manufacturing sites in Nagda in Madhya Pradesh and Jhagadia in Gujarat as well as at its head office in Thane. The exclusively designed LANXESS pavilion at the Indo-German Urban Mela will be highly interactive and has been laid out to capture elements of the global megatrends like mobility, urbanization and water. Urbanization leads to improvement in the quality and nature of lifestyles. Increased urbanization in recent times implies that there is a huge need for improved infrastructure, ample housing options, greater availability of public transport and higher demand for usable water among other things. This is reflected as solutions for the challenges associated with urban living at the Indo-German Urban Mela. Urbanization is a strong growth driver for LANXESS worldwide and therefore, the company will be showcasing solutions for sustainable urbanization at its pavilion the ‘Mela’.

The games showcased at the pavilion are meant to illustrate to users, how some of the basic applications in our daily lives involve high performance chemical technology. For example, LANXESS will help establish the role of tyres in a safe and fuel-efficient journey through a game that will take the player through various hurdles on a road. Similarly, one could see ion exchange resins from LANXESS thematically in action while one is achieving targets set in the game.
