LANXESS India continues to support community in Jhagadia

  • LANXESS sponsors Sewa Rural for future projects

LANXESS India, with manufacturing setup in Jhagadia chemical park, Gujarat has gone a step forward in supporting the community in that region. LANXESS India has contributed a sum of rupees of ten lakhs to Sewa Rural, a voluntary development organization involved in health and development activities in rural tribal areas. The contribution was made in favour of Vivekananda Gramin Tekniki Kendra for their futuristic project on equipping and strengthening amenities in the campus and supporting services for students.

The project entails installation of solar street lights and solar cooker system, building the proposed water harvesting and drainage systems and making the water lagoon facility more effective and accessories for overhead tank and pipelines. The facilitation of the project is underway and is scheduled to be completed by 2011.

Additionally, LANXESS India supported the girls’ education initiative by the government of Gujarat, namely Kanya Kelavani Nidhi with a sum of rupees ten lakhs.

The contribution has been extended to the organizations during the opening ceremony of the new ION exchange resins plant in Jhagadia.

On this occasion, Dr. Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative, LANXESS India said, “Jhagadia has been one of the cornerstones of our success story in India and is hence dear to us. We believe welfare and development of the community would foster development for all concerned and hence it is our pleasure to be able to support Sewa Rural as well as the government of Gujarat.”

In the past, LANXESS has supported the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Jhagadia on the Child Welfare and Educational Project by donating a sum of rupees 1,20,000 to the institute to sponsor the education of 89 students for a year.
