LEWATIT® S 8229 Scopeblue

Lewatit® S 8229 Scopeblue is the sustainable equivalent of the conventional Lewatit® S 8829, which is produced with ISCC PLUS certified acrylonitrile according to the mass balance approach under the following license code: ISCC-PLUS-Cert-DE102-22010005

Scopeblue is the umbrella brand of LANXESS for its sustainable products, which are achieving the following targets:

  • More than 50% by mass of sustainable raw materials or
  • More than 50% lower PCF compared to the conventional product

The Lewatit® S 8229 Scopeblue fulfills both Scopeblue requirements. Over 90 % of the fossil raw materials are substituted by material from sustainable, ISCC PLUS certified sources (mass balanced). As a result of the mass balance approach, Lewatit® S 8229 Scopeblue exhibits the same physical and chemical properties, obtaining the same performance as its conventional counterpart.

Lewatit® S 8229 Scopeblue is a food grade, macroporous, weakly acidic cation exchange resin based on a crosslinked polyacrylate. It is bead-shaped and has a special bead size distribution for use in household filter systems. In the buffered hydrogen form, the Lewatit® S 8229 Scopeblue is suitable for a use in household filter systems.

Lewatit® S 8229 Scopeblue is buffered with sodium. When using Lewatit® S 8229 Scopeblue to treat potable water special care should be given to the initial cycles of the new resin. Please refer to the recommended start-up conditions available on request.
