Fragrance, Freshness, Shelf life

Our Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) business unit develops and produces flavors and fragrances, preservatives, and animal nutrition products. Our F&F substances are found in various everyday consumables, such as cosmetics and personal care products, detergents and cleaning agents, beverages, baked goods, candles, oils, and animal feed.

Flavors & fragrances refine and enhance products, making them smell nice and feel fresh.

Preservatives protect foods from mold and bacteria. They also extend their shelf life.

Our F&F substances are easy to process and boast excellent odor and flavor profiles.

Our portfolio also includes specialty chemicals for industrial applications. Industries like pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and construction materials require these for their products.

Benzoic acid

We supply benzoic acid at various degrees of purity under the trade name Purox® B, including the purest benzoic acid available on the market. By the way, benzoic acid occurs naturally in numerous fruits, as well as in cinnamon and cloves.

Purox® B is used as a safe and effective preservative in a range of food stuff like pizzas, tortillas, and fish products. It is also used in care, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Industrial customers use related Purox® B formulations to produce materials such as resins, paints, and plasticizers.

Purox® B is easy to handle in all its forms and is virtually odorless. It also has a low agglomeration tendency.

Fragrances and flavorings

We offer an extensive range of fragrances: floral, spicy, citrus, woody, and earthy aromas, as well as fresh and soapy scents.

Benzyl Products

Benzyl products are important base materials for agrochemicals and building materials, such as epoxy hardeners. They are also used in pharmaceutical, and fragrance, and flavor industry products. Here are just two examples from our wide range of benzyl products:

 

Benzaldehyde


Benzaldehyde is an important aroma chemical. With a hint of almond and cherry, it has a characteristically sweet odor. We offer benzaldehydes at various degrees of purity. They all are similar to the benzaldehydes found naturally in almonds, peaches, apricots, and cherries. Our benzaldehydes can be found in synthetic almond oil, food, pharmaceuticals, agricultural and industrial applications, among other things.

 

Benzyl alcohol

Benzyl alcohol is a colorless liquid with a pleasant, mild aroma. It is a versatile preservative and solvent. What is more, it is used as a base or intermediate material in a wide variety of chemical products. A leading manufacturer of benzyl alcohol, we produce a high-quality product that is extremely well suited to processing further up the value chain.


Preservatives

Kalaguard® SB

Kalaguard® SB is a consumer-friendly preservative for household applications such as cleaning, laundry or hand dishwashing products.
Our preservative ensures, for example, that harmful microorganisms such as yeast bacteria or mold do not spread and damage fabric softeners, dishwashing products or cleaners.

Kalaguard® SB is also one of the "Green Label" solutions, as it is certified for use in products with eco-label programs, such as Ecolabel, Ecocert, Nordic Swan, etc.


Purox® S

Purox® S is a preservative identical to those found in nature, that safely and effectively inhibits microbial growth in foods, beverages, cosmetics, toiletries and pharmaceuticals up to a pH of 6.5.
It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as a food additive and is also known as E211.

Common applications include soft drinks, jellies, dressings and sauces. Purox® S protects food from premature spoilage due to bacteria and molds, without compromising good taste.

In personal care products, it can be a good alternative to harmful parabens or formaldehyde releasers.
